Die CITY SAINTS liefern neben der Eigenkomposition „United we Stand“ gleich noch ein geschmeidiges Cover des Gesetzesbrecher-Evergreens „I fought the law“ ab. Ursprünglich eine Sonny Curtis (THE CRICKETS)-Nummer aus den wild 60’s, subkulturell bekannt geworden durch THE BOBBY FULLER FOUR, THE CLASH, DEAD KENNEDYS und Mike Ness. Die CITY SAINTS respektieren das Original, schalten lediglich den RAMONES-Turbo zu. Der Opener „United we stand“ zündet als keltische Breitseite (Celtic Street Rock’n’Roll?) jeden Tresen an, setzt die Kehle amtlich in Brand. Eine melodisch-packende „One for all, all for one“ Unity-Hymne für alle „Blue Collar Brothers“. Bierseelig, mitreissend, leidenschaftlich. Faust in die Luft und mitgesungen! Schwere Heiserkeit ist leider nicht zu vermeiden.
OFI halten hart dagegen: „Above & beyond“ ist ein wuchtiger Uptempo-Smasher, nicht unbedingt als Blutdruck-Senker geeignet. UK’82 Style in der Spielweise EXPLOITED meets Swedish Oi! der Sorte AGENT BULLDOGG & Co. Hochfrisierter Bulldozer mit reibeisigen Mastino-Vocals.
„Oi! ain’t dead“ legt sogar noch eine Kohle nach, punktet als grimmiger Aggro-Singalong, passend zur textlichen Botschaft an die Szene-Spalter: „Oi! aint dead…But you’re trying to kill it!“
Mit solchen Songs/Band wird es um Oi! noch lange gut bestellt sein, da brauchen wir uns keine Sorgen zu machen.
